5 speed manual, electric front windows, power tilt / slide steel sunroof, electric door mirrors, hazard light switch, heated rear screen, rear wiper, rear seat belts, cigarette lighter, passenger vanity mirror, analogue clock, full size spare tyres, black leather gear selector and three spoke 380mm black leather steering wheel, immobiliser, Panasonic F.M. radio/cassette, roof antenna, rear passenger courtesy lights, original over mats, speed variable power steering. 

 

 

EXTERIOR

Gleaming in Sterling Silver metallic, Factory Code 244, overall in a fine condition, with no visible signs of corrosion, dents or scratches.

The satin black window surrounds and door handles retain their high quality finish. Fortunately, that familiar front twin headlight grill, front spoiler, door mirror backs and bonnet badge, have also avoided damage over the years, while lenses and reflectors are also free of cracks or chips. All four original BMW mud-flaps have been retained. 

 

INTERIOR

A highlight of this particular E30 Touring. 

Dashboard and instrumentation still appears fresh, and remain clear of any unsightly damage.

The only very minor defect being two hairline splits in the top corners of the stowage area of the dash top opposite passenger. The leather gear selector and stitched steering wheel are un-marked. All seats, carpets, door cards and the head lining are superb. The original load cover is present and the stowage area surprisingly spacious.

 

 

WHEELS & TYRES

BMW 15”inch light alloy cross-spoke 29 wheels version L812 – GB.

These lattice design alloys have been further enhanced by new wheel centre caps.

205/55 R 15 Both front and rear tyres have an adequate tread depth of approx. 3-5mm, however, the rears appear younger, and of a better quality than fronts.

 

 

SERVICE HISTORY & PROVENANCE 

One of the best stamped, service history books you could hope to find.

32 entries, being a mixture of BMW Main Agents and specialists, from PDI @ 7 miles on 13/02/1994, to 84,185 miles in 2019.

Consistently maintained to a high standard, cambelt changes are recorded on 6 separate occasions, 02 / 04 /07 / 11 / 14 / and finally in March 2020 @ 85,037 miles.

The rear sub-frame has been dropped and new mounting installed, new clutch master cylinder replaced @ 75, 851 miles, clutch replaced @ 75,000.

Transmission, suspension, brake and exhaust components replaced as required, new battery in 2018.Originally supplied on 19/02/1994 by Halliwell Jones (Chester) Ltd, making this one of last 1997 units supplied in the final year of production of the E30.

Certainly benefitting from long-term, considerate ownership, by the same titled family since 2000, and only having 4 owners in total (two being Mother and Son).

Supplied with completed Owners Wallet, all Handbooks, period sales brochures, price list and two sets of keys.

Obviously, fully Hpi clear.

 

THE DRIVE & ENGINE

Type AJ12 Model E30 Touring, displacing 1596cc’s, normally aspirated, SOHC 2 v per cylinder, M40 4 cylinder engine. Developing approx. 99 hp, driving the rear wheels via 5 speed Getrag 240, manual transmission. This provides adequate power to propel the meagre 1170 kgs kerb weight to a top speed of approx. 111 mph.

These later Series 11engines, proved extremely reliable, utilising Bosch Motronic fuel injection. Suspension aided by MacPherson Struts and rear semi-trailing arms. Disc brakes all round provide efficient braking, with ABS fitted as standard.

An excellent thread of continual attentive maintenance has ensured this attractive little Touring continues to provide excellent service for any lucky new owner.

Now attracting a new, younger audience, who appear to appreciate the aesthetic appeal as much as the e30’s practical prowess.
