A highlight of this premium example, striking a glorious contrast to the exterior, all the seats and upholstery remain in virtually as new condition. Indulgent yet still practical, the high quality Ebony and Pimento red leather upholstery is enhanced by contrasting red stitching to the seats, door cards and driver/ passengers dashboard binnacles. Even the door grab handles have been treated to the same high standard of finish. Original folding forward facing rear seats have head rests plus 3 point seat belts. The front seats are adjustable, and a special commission from Recaro to feature a lower side bolster, which aids entry/exit. The central stowage box has been leather covered to match the scheme, with added padding for the top arm-rest cushion, the interior now Alcantara covered, as is the charcoal headlining. Instantly recognisable, the iconic Land Rover Defender has been a virtually unaltered permanent feature on the rural U.K. landscape for nearly 40 years, and able to trace its underpinnings back even further. Now more refined, the 5th and final incarnation the L316, this 90 XS model is powered by the, Euro V-Compliant, 2.2 Ford derived direct injection Duratorq TDCi, ZSD-422 engine, and now incorporates a diesel particulate filter, which, to avoid damage when off-road, is cleverly housed in the engine bay. The standard unit develops around 122bhp @ 3500 rpm, with 266 lb/ft and 351 Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. However our vehicle has been “Breathed upon” by the clever specialist technicians at JE Motor Works, and is now thought to develop around, a far more impressive, 180 bhp, providing a noticeable improvement in performance. Transmission is via a 6 speed GFT MT-82 manual gearbox, driving all 4 wheels, with diff-lock., while braking is effectively controlled by ventilated front discs/pads all round. The Defenders off-road capabilities are legendary; little can be added here, but with approach and departure angles of 47%, and a towing capacity of 3,500 kgs, the Defender has many peers, but few rivals. We strongly advise an early viewing.
