While we cannot identify any specific documentation within the extensive history file, it is believed that this 3.2 has had a body re-shell at some point very early in its life. The chassis numbers do however correspond with those on the V5. The last owner has inspected the car thoroughly and found no signs of any incorrect welding, and so believes this was a new body-in-white, supplied direct from the factory.

Electric windows and adjustable door mirrors, electric front seats, heated rear screen, tinted glass, leather steering wheel, front leather sports seats, cigarette lighter, front and rear fog lights, front and rear spoilers, Panasonic CQ-RDP113N 45w x 4 face-off C.D/radio, hazard warning switch, original boxed Porsche air compressor, un-used Vredestein space-saver wheel, tool roll, folding rear seats, impact absorption bumpers front/rear, 3-point seat belts, rear screen wiper, sports shock absorbers, carpeted front stowage compartment.

Classically finished in the ever-desirable Guards Red, factory code L80 K. Although obviously having received a degree of remedial paint over the last 32 years, all panels fit extremely well and the bodywork gleams with a deep of shine befitting such a classic. Worthy of note are the internal wheel arches, which are extremely clean and bright, as can be seen from our detailed photo-shoot. The recently restored and re-covered Targa roof is without fault, together with the black roll-over hoop, creates a wonderful contrast against the bright red bodywork. Rubber weather seals are a recent replacement, and therefore in top condition. Front and rear bumper bellows remain supple and in good order, all glass and lenses thankfully appear damage free.

The black leather sports seats are electrically adjustable, and retain a pleasing level of patination, with only minor wear to the driver’s seat bolster and piping yet remain extremely comfortable and supportive. The familiar 5 dial dash presents without any cracking or sun damage, sitting behind the black leather steering wheel with embossed central Porsche motif. The rear seats are only very lightly used, folding flat to provide a very useful stowage area. Door cards, handles and door caps are all excellent, original black carpets front and rear have been protected long-term by quality over mats. Having been recently replaced the Targa roof lining is unmarked, both roof locking handles are present.

Original Fuchs alloys with correct satin black fans, and black aluminium billet centre caps with coloured Porsche crest.

Front – 205/55R16 (91V) Rear – 225/50 ZR 16 (92W)

All tyres appear to have ample tread depth with no visible evidence of uneven wear patterns, cracking or damage to side walls.

Often considered and described as, “The best of both worlds”, the appeal of the 911 Targa is self-evident. Not only can you enjoy open and closed roof motoring, but that sensuously curved rear glass and roll-over hoop, to this day, remains a joy to behold. This U.K. supplied C16 example starts eagerly upon first turn of the key, immediately settling to a steady idle. Though not remarkably swift by today’s standards, performance from the naturally aspirated flat six is brisk enough. The SOHC 3164 cc 12v with Bosche Motronic fuel injection, develops around 215 bhp @ 5900 rpm, rear wheel drive plus a LSD and approx weight of just 1160 kgs, 0 – 60 mph can be reached in a claimed 6.2 secs with a top speed of 149 mph. Transmission via the G50 5 speed is a joy to operate, at any temperature. The pleasure of pushing an Air-Cooled 911 along the road of your choice is always a rewarding experience. However, by removing the Targa roof, which folds neatly and can be stowed up front, the added aural sensation of the flat six toiling away behind you, is even further enhanced. Steering is famously positive and direct, suspension firm, though compliant enough when require, the ventilated disc brake perform their task effectively.

Looking sensational in Guards Red, and admired wherever it goes, the perfect companion to share the summer sunshine with perhaps? We strongly advise an early viewing.
