Offering low mileage and attentive low ownership, this striking Speed Yellow 997 Turbo still presents to an extremely high standard today, some 16 years after production date. Panels are straight, and accordingly, gaps are all pleasingly consistent. Having wider swollen rear wheel arches, side skirts, deep front spoiler, and twin exhausts, the profile of this fine example have been further enhanced by the addition of Carbon Fibre engine cooling air intakes along both flanks. The original fitments finished in Speed Yellow are supplied with the Porsche; however in this case, we believe this subtle contrasting upgrade compliments the overall appearance, adding to the exclusive individuality of the Speed Yellow admirably.

A stylish, familiar and functional environment for any Porsche owner, with all finishes of a high standard, the quality of materials utilised has proved hardwearing and durable. The in-dash display screen incorporates all entertainment and Sat Nav functions, and operates correctly, as does the climate control and all other ancillary equipment. The soft black leather has the optional extended pack to incorporate all front and rear seating, dashboard, door-cards, entry sills, centre console and even steering column. No more than a very minimal patination, even the large and supportive driver’s seat bols ter, most commonly worn but thankfully not in this fine example.

The Mezger derived 3.6ltr Twin Turbo, flat six is instantly recognisable on start up, and settles to a steady idle. The engine is smooth and civilised when required, however sparks into life with the press of a pedal to unleash the incredible performance on tap. Sure-footed stability and confidence inspiring four-wheel drive system, ensures that even the less experienced Porsche driver can still exploit the capabilities that these superb 911’s have to offer.

The tactile manual short-shift 6 speed gearbox pulls through the gears without hesitation, having huge amoun ts of low down torque on offer. Although the Turbo is water-cooled it is not the same engine utilised in regular 997 Carrera models. The turbo charged engine can trace its ancestry back to the old air-cooled units and is directly related , not only to the 996 GT3, but also the Lemans 911 GT1 racer (3.2 litres and 600bhp). The flat 6 cylinder, DOHC 24 valve, has direct multi-point fuel injection, is water-cooled, has inter-cooled with twin turbo induction, forged internal components, so as a result it is very strong and can be tuned to well over 800bhp. As standard the Turbo has 473bhp at 6,000 rpm, capable of a claimed top speed around 195+ mph, with 0-60 being achieved in 3.7 secs, so a very accomplished performer. The axle load distribution of 40:60 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour.

The all-wheel drive system is biased towards the rear; the system sends between 5% – 40% of torque forward depending on traction and power applied.

Our 911 Turbo is fitted with Sport Chrono Plus Package, which adds a SPORT button that sharpens the throttle response, adds 60nm of Torque temporarily (approximately 0.2 bar of Turbo Boost) whilst also adding a dashboard mounted stopwatch to add to the sporting image of the 911 Turbo.

One of Porsche’s most sought after models, a manual 997 Turbo is surely a wonderful all-round prospect, power, pace, provenance and practicality, and being finished here in dazzling Speed Yellow, e xpected to attract considerable interest.
