Recaro sports bucket seats with hard backs in red to match body coding, radio delete, correct black leather Club Sport steering wheel, full Safety Devices International Ltd roll-cage, four point TRS safety harnesses for driver and passenger, battery isolator switch, fire extinguisher, digital clock, 6 speed manual transmission, black light-weight carpet and door cards, manual windows save weight, heated rear screen with wiper delete, pop-up headlights and carpeted boot area. Gaz Gold fully adjustable dampers plus Poweflex bushes.

This Club Sport presents overall to a high standard, with no unsightly dents, scuffs, blemishes or scratches to mention. Obviously the Porsche is now nearly 30 years old and has covered over 100k miles, so there might be the odd stone-chip to be found, however, far better than most and totally commensurate with the vehicles age and use as can be seen in our photoshoot. The black Club Sport decals along each flank, and rear model designation, leave you in no doubt as the purpose and intentions of the 968.

Although stripped back and obviously focussed on weight reduction, the cabin still remains functional and relatively comfortable once strapped into the supportive high back Recaros. Vision is excellent, and wear would appear minimal, all areas and surfaces hold up extremely well indeed.

Front brake discs and pads fitted in 2018, The C16 original U.K. Club Sport has benefitted from attentive and long term ownership, with the same owners from 1995 – 2004. There has been substantial and consistent investment in the 968 over many years by Porsche Main dealers and very well recognised Porsche Specialists. Supplied with original owners wallet, service and hand books, two keys, large history file with original invoices, virtually every MOT certificate back to the 90’s to confirm the genuine mileage. Fully HPi clear.

Described by Porsche in their original Price List brochure of 1st March 1994; “For the Porsche enthusiast who desires pure driving exhilaration, the 968 Club Sport provides exceptional road-holding and performance ability. Such handling characteristics have helped the 968 Club Sport win three prestigious awards including Autocar & Motors, Car of the Year”.

Original Club Sport Specification, as detailed in the same Porsche Brochure:

Six speed manual transmission, ABS with 4-piston light alloy callipers and ventilated discs, brake pads wear indicators, pressure cast light alloy ‘Cup Design’ wheels, 7.5J front + 9J rear, with low profile tyres, body-colour fixed aerodynamic rear spoiler, tinted glass all round, heated rear window and laminated windscreen, progressive power steering, front + rear anti-roll bars, hot zinc dipped fully galvanised bodywork, roof antenna + two speakers, automatic heating control, heated windscreen washer nozzles, long range driving lights and fog lights, internally adjustable headlight beam, Porsche Anti-Theft Immobiliser System, 3-speed screen wipers with variable intermittent wipe facility, suspension lowered by 20mm, ‘Club Sport’ side decals (Optional), manually adjustable door mirrors, manually operated windows, lightweight Recaro bucket seats with colour co-ordinated seat backs, leather covered 3-spoke sports steering wheel, handbrake + gear lever.

The front mounted, naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, 2990cc water-cooled engine, developed 240bhp @ 6200rpm, with 305 Nm of torque @ 4100rpm. The ’Carb-free’ lightweight construction,( being reduced by some 50kgs), also help produce impressive performance figures, which Porsche claim 0-62 mph in 6.2 secs and a top speed of 157 mph. Fuel economy was also very reasonable, claimed to be 39.2 mpg @ a constant 56 mph. Mated to a 6 speed close ratio Getrag transmission, changes are precise and rewarding. Handling is sharp and predicable in most conditions, while the suspension set-up is firm. The aural sensation has been enhanced by incorporating a custom built Vortex stainless system, not too loud, but an enjoyable purposeful burble.

As can be seen in the service records above, this example of the rare non-sunroof 968 Club Sport, has been very well maintained, and now offers the new owner the prospect of a rewarding and exciting driving experience.

One of only 1923 Club Sports produced, of which, just 179 were U.K. right hand drive examples. With prices on the increase, surely there can be no better time to join the select few.
